Political Prosecution Brought by Attorney General Drew Edmondson

Oklahoma attorney general Drew Edmondson’s latest outrage is chronicled today in an editorial in the D.C. Examiner. The paper points out that he is bringing a selective, political prosecution against taxpayer-rights activists for gathering petition signatures to put on the ballot a referendum, the Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights (TABOR).

CEI earlier rated The Nation’s Top Ten Worst State Attorneys General. CEI thought of publishing a list of “dirty dozen” attorneys general, which would have included Edmondson. But CEI’s study, which is already rather voluminous at 35 pages, would have been too long if it listed 12 rather than 10 state AGs. Accordingly, I limited the list to the ten worst, and Edmondson thus escaped censure from us. If we did another rating of the Top Ten Worst, though, Edmondson would surely make the list.

“WHY ARE NEWPAPERS DISTORTING THE TRUTH ABOUT DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS?"

The three largest newspapers plus the Internet site al.com in Alabama are owned by Advance Publications Inc. Newhouse Newspapers is the newspaper publishing division. Advance Publications is owned by billionaires Samuel Irving Newhouse Jr. and his brother Donald Newhouse.

Here in Alabama these three newspapers start every article that they write about Democrats with this statement, "Our newspapers endorses (Republican) and we believe (Democrat) to be a crook." Then instead of being impartial in the writing of their articles they twist every sentence about the Democratic politician to sound negative.
