Straight Talk on Global Warming from…Bill Clinton?

Drudge today links to Jake Tapper’s “Political Punch” column at ABC News, where he reports on a speech given by Bill Clinton yesterday in Denver. In it, Bill refers to the question of global warming and economic growth in surprising new terms. Instead of talking about the hundreds of thousands of high-paying green collar jobs we’ll supposedly be generating by shunning the cheapest and most reliable energy sources on the planet, he issued a surprising recommendation.

In a long, and interesting speech, [Bill Clinton] characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: “We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.”

At a time that the nation is worried about a recession is that really the characterization his wife would want him making? “Slow down our economy”?

We’ve come a long way from Democratic politicians who merely promised to raise taxes (which would have the effect of slowing growth) now to campaigners who are willing to cut out the middle man and go straight to sabotaging the economy outright. That’s what we in politics call progress. You can watch the whole thing here.

Don’t particularily like Slick Willy’s idea of economics as a result of the proven failure of Reaganomics and its instituion of NAFTA…Its the economy stupid was in fact right with regard to the Bush Administration and Supply Side Economics which fail to consider consequences of free trade and the simple rules of gravity…Economics like water runs downhill… A lower cost labor force if not held in check by the forces of labor’s demands will create either a labor vacuum or an economic vacuum and Archimedes Principle is economically sound… Jobs flow to the lowest cost and savings of the richer economy flow in the direction of a lowered standard of living.
Environment follows another principle…Survival and if Sick Willy is saying that pre-empts profit and greedy corporate profiteers from destroying the United States this old S.O.B. (sort out the Bull$%t), agrees with him…The Corporation of Oil Addiction and Military Supply has out done itself… Complexity is overload and their HARRP has created an environmental disaster that is just beginning to extend into the ionosphere as well as increased global warning…

I am going to assume you have an educated level of understanding that goes beyond the myopic and self-serving understanding of your Mr. Morrison so I would ask that you review Discover Magazine Jan 2008 and bring yourself up to date on what is happening and why for once Clinton and Gore have got it right…Old theories are not going to get us out of this crisis my friend!
