I’ve been saying the 147 million pound beef recall will lead to calls for more regulation and better regulation, even though the regulatory regime in place worked like clockwork in this situation. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) is now calling for creating a food safety oversight authority outside of the USDA. With food prices on the rise, this is just what we need, right?!

I want those politicians out of my food supply, as the only thing that is guaranteed with them in it is that food prices go up and taxes go up. When did it become a government job to make sure I was safe?
