House Leaders Help America’s Enemies, Punish Our Friends

Posted by Hans Bader

Investor’s Business Daily comments on the decision by the House of Representatives to exempt an oil company controlled by Venezuela’s anti-American leftist dictator from a major tax increase imposed on American oil companies. The company has hired former Congressman Joe Kennedy (D) to shill for it. The House’s liberal majority rejected conservative proposals to eliminate this special treatment that puts American companies at a competitive disadvantage.

While cozying up to America’s enemies, House leaders were spurning Colombia, one of the most pro-American countries in Latin America, by giving its democratically-elected president, Alvaro Uribe, the cold shoulder, and by thwarting a trade agreement with that country that would have created jobs in our export sector.
