Mississippi Attorney General Blind to Wrongful Convictions and Ethics

Posted by Hans Bader

Mississippi’s attorney general, Jim Hood, is praising a shady prosecutor who put innocent people in jail, calling him a “straight arrow.”

Mississippi’s legislature has belatedly moved to curb Hood’s practice of steering lucrative state legal work to campaign donors. This practice was partly concealed by artful money laundering. Hood supporters gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Democratic Attorneys General Association, which then gave the money to Hood.

Sadly, there are attorneys general who are even worse than Hood.
