Challenge to Ban on Racial Set-Asides Rejected by Court

Michigan’s Proposition 2, which bans racial preferences and set-asides in government contracts, state jobs, and public university admissions, was upheld yesterday by a federal judge.  Racial preferences cost taxpayers of all races hundreds of millions of dollars by increasing the cost of government contracts.  I earlier explained why Michigan voters acted constitutionally when they voted to pass Proposition 2.  Opponents of Proposition 2 mounted a campaign of deceit, hyperbole, and physical intimidation, with the support of the state’s political establishment, that utterly failed to dissuade voters from supporting it.
