Journalist Chris Matthews has decided to join the “Cult of Personality” around President-elect Obama. Journalists used to think their job included being watchdogs of the government and holding government accountable. But “Chris Matthews announced today that it’s his job as a commentator to make sure president-elect Barack Obama succeeds as president.”
Matthews earlier remarked that he “gets a thrill going up his leg” when he hears Obama speak.
On the bright side, the growing cult around Obama means that any Obama memorabilia you have now fetches a premium price. Even newspapers announcing his “historic” win now go for $40.
A teenage fan of the Beatles once reached into their car, pulled used chewing gum out of an ashtray, and put it into her mouth with a look of ecstasy. The Obama-Mania is starting to remind me of that.
At least Chris Matthews didn’t offer to do what long-time journalist Nina Burleigh offered to do for Bill Clinton (that is, following in Monica Lewinsky’s footsteps), to thank him for pursuing liberal policies.
After January 21, I expect that we will no longer hear from journalists that “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” (a made-up quote that ignorant journalists falsely attribute to Jefferson).

I now know how I will proceed. The only way to ruin Socialism is through demand. Demand ever more until they can't supply. As the price of giving everybody a free piece of the pie rises so will taxes. As taxes go up, more income is hidden or driven underground. So what I fully intend to do is demand my share NOW with continuous letters to President Obama and my elected representatives.

This will be perfect for ME and others my age as we will be able to take full advantage of all of these goodies before I die. Just about the time of my passing, the nation will implode into a low productivity, Marxist scrap heap much like Venezuela is doing now and Cuba has been for years. I'll get the best of it all and you youngins who voted for Obama will get squat but high taxes and a depleted system. You get all the long lines, indifferent doctors (if you can find one), smelly operating rooms and sky high energy costs. I, and those like me, get the creme off the top.
The Demorats have been telling me to vote my own best interests for years and I foolishly voted for what was best for the country. I think now is a good time to start voting for me.
