Video Response to Will Ferrell MoveOn.org: People Are Saying Mean Things About Big Government!

Remember that Will Ferrell, celebrity-packed video on Obamacare last month? The one from MoveOn.org? One of those “we’re from Hollywood, and we’re here to tell the little people how the world works” lecture-scolds. Yeah, it was an effort that induced the usual eye-rolling, oh-them-again sort of response from many viewers. Clearly, rich Hollywood celebrities making their living in performing arts know what’s best for normal, working people. (Has it occurred to them that this is a bit of a stretch?) Anyhow, someone’s done a clever video response, making the obvious point that opposition to Obamacare stems from the fact that many people don’t want Big Government in charge of health care. A point the Left seems to have a hard time grasping.

“People are saying a lot of mean things about Big Government!” Ha!!

Insurance companies kill children. If you think I’m being melodramatic, just look it up yourself. In 2007, CIGNA denied seventeen-year-old Nataline Sarkisyan a liver transplant on the grounds that the operation was “too experimental.” Nine days later, the company changed its mind due to public pressure. It was too little, too late. Nataline died two hours later.

Isn’t it interesting that wealthy Hollywood types who have the best health care money can buy have more of a social conscience than an organization that purports to advance a Catholic view of health care? I thought Catholicism advanced the interests of the poor. But hey, who cares? They’re funny. Ha ha ha!

I pay for my private health insurance every month, and yet can have no confidence that the company happily taking my money will authorize life saving measures, should they become necessary. Moreover, should they decide to deny my coverage, I have no recourse beyond public shame through the media.

That’s exactly how I like my health care…with no accountability beyond a profit-seeking company whose best interest are counter to my own. Yet there is no alternative, because you all oppose not only universal health care, but also a public option that would force these companies to compete for my dollars with a more patient-friendly policy. Go figure.

Yeah! That’s the way to stick it to Obama. Deny yourself the best health care available. That’ll show him. After all, that means he won’t have great health care…Oh yeah. He does, and he will, For The Rest Of His Life! That’s why he shouldn’t be concerned with making sure that we can live. After all, when my father had cancer, the insurance company stepped right in…with deductibles, copays and every other measure imaginable to decimate my parents’ hard earned life savings. Say no to Obamacare. Say no to your own best interests. It makes perfect sense to me.
